One of my favorite DIYs. It’s super easy, cheap, and fast if you need some last minute Halloween decor. It’s also apartment friendly, as it doesn’t require any hooks or nails in the walls. :D You can find instructions and templates to create these little guys here, but it’s easy to find other silhouettes with a quick Google search! I also picked up a 12 pack of rat silhouettes at the Dollar Tree a few years ago, and they’ve proven sturdy enough to be reused this coming year. I don’t know if they’re still available there around Halloween, but it’s worth a look if you don’t feel like cutting your own!

Hey, thanks for the ask! I’m not 100% on most ingredients in candies, but I’ll make a few suggestions that I think should be in the clear. There are definitely options out there!

The first thing that popped into my head were marshmallow treats. I know the folks who make Peeps at Easter also put out a Halloween treats. I’ve also seen marshmallow ghosts that aren’t linked under that site.

You might also try candy corn! I think it’s mainly just sugar, so I think you should be okay there. Another sugary option is maple sugar candy, which is one of my very very favorites but can be hard to find unless you have some local stores or craft fairs that’ll vend it.

Another Halloween staple for me is the ever-popular popcorn ball, though perhaps that’s straying a bit from the realm of candy. (Just like candied/caramel apples!)

Some other less Halloween-specific candies that you might be able to try are Laffy Taffy, Twizzlers, Skittles, Jolly Ranchers, or any sort of caramel pieces.

Most of these are based in the US I think, so if you aren’t from there, let me know and I’ll try to hunt down some other options for you. This is by no means a complete list. I know there are probably tons and tons of treats you can enjoy this Fall. There’s something for everyone during the Halloween season! Good luck!

(Also, if anyone else has any suggestions, help me out here!)

You’re right, I do love it! I need that apron. Also I apologize for letting this sit in my inbox for so long, I missed seeing it.

Aww, thanks so much! I love to hear this stuff, because it makes me feel like I’m going in the right direction with this. So seriously, thank you, and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy it. Happy haunting!:)

Candy Corn Treat Bags!

Protip: Now is a good time to find cheap decorations for Halloween! A lot of people are doing spring cleaning and no one is really thinking about Halloween decor yet. I went thrifting earlier this week and got a really cute sign in perfect condition for $0.99. There was some other stuff that I passed up that I maayyy have to go back and get. It’s a wonder that I was able to resist candy corn candles in the first place. Go forth and thrift!

This is so crazy simple. After the cost of a blacklight, this high impact DIY can be put together for around $3 a year (and it’s washable)! I really want to try this for Halloween 2014.
